"Lessons with Ms. Shayna are fun and
amazing! I'm so glad she is my Bass
Teacher." - E (age 9)
"Shayna has been such an incredibly
positive influence on our son - he just loves
playing his bass with her at the helm.
Dulberger's ability to magically weave
learning into fun interactions has made a huge
impact on not only his progression but also his
pure enjoyment of music. I credit
Shayna's methods to his continued interest
and moving beyond just individual lessons as he
moves into playing in orchestra and jamming with
friends. Thanks to Shayna for all
that she does!" - D, Mom to W
(age 8)
About Your Lesson
Playing Bass is fun! Lesson time is our space
for listening, observing, and building strength.
Shayna uses a game-like approach to make
learning bass easier. Dulberger will pay
special attention to each student's learning
processes: what works and doesn’t work.
Students will observe music skills demonstrated on
the bass, then take playing turns to show what they
can play and what the next step will be. More
creativity happens when we use different emotions,
volumes, and speeds. This makes our music more
interesting and fun. This is how we make art out of
sound. Students continue to strengthen learned
pieces and coincidingly learn new ones. Lessons
will also include improvisation and
composition, the greatest way to learn how to
let go and connect with music. Studying music
becomes easier over time with practice: like an
athlete runner training to run a marathon,
Bassists will need to have Bass playing built into
their routine and lifestyle. The Bass is a
beloved, creative outlet for many people and
can be soul-soothing like practicing meditation.

pieces. Shayna's students have been accepted to
New York City's Frank Sinatra and LaGuardia
Performing Arts High Schools.
About the Double Bass
The Double Bass is the largest instrument of the
Violin Family. Today we are fortunate to have double
basses of many sizes to fit players of many sizes.
The Double Bass is often played standing up but can
also be played sitting down. The four strings are
bowed or plucked. The tone color of the double bass
is warm, rich, beautiful, and sometimes gruff.
The very deep tones of the double bass are essential
as support for other instruments in many different
settings. It is an extremely versatile instrument
used in classical, jazz, and traditional music from
all over the world.
